Skin Camouflage NHS training

On Thursday 9th Jan 2025, some OTs, Nurses and Prostheists specialists from Burn Services in Preston, Birmingham, Chelmsford and Bristol trained up in Skin Camouflage techniques at The Finishing Touches Group clinic in Haywards Heath.
They have also been given a starter kit to kick start their service or replace out of date items.
The course  was an online and in person course designed in conjunction with Dan’s Fund For Burns and NHS professionals.
Thanks so much to our models of the day Sarah and Sue.
Thanks for Dawn at The Finishing Touches group for taking on the mantle of facilitating this course and to Gemma, Marcella, Emma and Mel for the execution.
This is giant step forward in improving this important service to burn survivors across the UK and we will be launching another course late June for other Adult Burns NHS staff.

Dan’s Fund would like to join together with the rest of the world  in expressing our sorrow on hearing about the Queen’s passing yesterday.  It felt like she would live on forever but today we mourn the loss of the greatest of leaders, a truly astonishing monarch.  She lifted the spirits of the country and united us time and time again all through her relentless service to us all.   We have known no different and she will be sorely missed.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 21st April 1926-8th September 2022.

May she Rest in Peace.

Friday 20th May 2022

A mix of rain and sunshine greeted our loyal golfing supporters at our Windlesham Golf Club Charity day on Friday 20th May.  Better than driving wind and rain last year and scores were high as a result.  Congratulations to The Dream Team, The Worplesdon Wallies and The Driving Divas for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectfully.  The Woking Belles won the yellow ball competition with only 4/12 yellow balls returning home!! Lots of ditches and water at Windlesham 🙂

Busy banking!

Its been a busy few days and I always love it when we can make those bank payments!  This week, we’ve paid for 9 burn professionals to attend the BASC skin camouflage training course in May, funded the 3rd tranche of a tattoo to cover a young chaps burn scars, paid for some bespoke pressure garments for a young burn  and a new bed for another! In addition, we’ve agreed to donate an ipad and netflix subscription to another patient about to leave hospital shortly too.  Helping where we can to make burn survivors lives just a little bit better where we can.
